.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 130 AM CDT Tue Aug 26 2025

A considerably more comfortable air mass has overspread the region
in the wake of a cold front that actually moved through on Sunday.
Temperatures this early morning are generally in the 60s with dew
points even lower than that. Northwest flow aloft is pretty much
locked in through the week with synoptic scale troughing over the
eastern CONUS and some form of ridging over the high plains and/or
Rockies.

Latest guidance is consistent with moving an upper level impulse
through the aforementioned northwest flow for the the remainder of
the night and into early Tuesday. Showers are starting to fill in
according to local radars but only a few surface observations are
reporting rain at this time with somewhat drier air in the low
levels. Expect the showers to slowly overcome this drier air with
time and as such, will continue to keep precip chances on the higher
side through the remainder of the night into early Tuesday.

As the impulse moves away on Tuesday, precipitation chances will
decrease from northeast to southwest. A rumble of thunder of two can
not completely ruled out, especially Tuesday afternoon. Rainfall
amounts will be on the lighter side with some areas possibly picking
up a quarter of an inch although most areas will see less than that.
Cloud cover and northwest flow will keep temperatures below seasonal
averages with the NE likely the warmest part of the CWA Tuesday as
clouds are expected to clear out there first.

Wednesday is expected to be mainly dry as surface high pressure will
pass to the NE of the CWA. Low temperatures will likely be in the
50s statewide with high temperatures over the east getting into the
80s but not getting out of the 70s elsewhere as the next, stronger,
upper level system takes aim the state Wednesday afternoon. This
system will bring very good chances of precipitation late Wednesday
night through a good part of Thursday as it is taking on more of an
MCS look. Several additional shortwaves will move across the area
through Friday keeping precipitation chances in place.

The highest chances of rain will be in the late Wednesday night
through Thursday time frame but guidance remains inconsistent with
exactly how much will fall, Regardless, this period seems to be the
best chances of seeing widespread rain with several inches or rain
not out of the realm of possibility.

Will hold onto some precipitation chances over the southern half of
the state through Saturday with mainly dry conditions expected for
the remainder of the holiday weekend. Temperatures will range from
the upper 60s to upper 80s on Thursday with widespread 70s on Friday
and Saturday before temperatures start to warm up closer to
seasonal averages Sunday into Monday.
